Mocha's Mug Comes to Landrum

Landrum, SC is known as a Blue Ridge, antique destination, but is also gaining steady foodie traction with popular restaurants such as Stone Soup Restaurant, The Hare and Hound pub, Soulisa's Fine Thai, and more. It's newest destination and community gathering place is Mocha's Mug, a modern coffeeshop filling a need for locals and travelers alike, located at 212 E Rutherford St.The open floor plan cafe echoes with the sound of coffee grinding and calming Parisian tunes, with fresh-baked pastries and breads, flavored lattes, americanos, smoothies, a variety of teas, and Rainforest-certified coffee varieties beckoning from the extensive menu. Take your pick of seating: from the bright window bar, table booths, two-top cafe tables, fireside armchairs and couch, or the community table in their back room (available for party rental.)Owners Denis & Lori Friederich saw a need to fill, and brought their cafe and baking experience to their new hometown, after looking at 17 locations. The coffeeshop is named after their Shih Tzu/ Dachsund mix Mocha, and is truly a community hub. “We wanted to create a place where people are refreshed in body and soul,” Lori Friederich said. “Everywhere we’ve lived, we’ve liked to build a community, and that’s part of what this is.” (More details on the owners' plans.)And because it's Fall, we could not pass up the opportunity to try a seasonal latte; choose from favorites such as pumpkin spice, caramel apple butter, spiced brown sugar, cinnamon bun, and more.Mocha's Mug is open 7:30-3:30 Tuesday-Friday and 8:30-3:30 Saturday.
