Hub City's Own Candy Hub
Gerald's Candy & Nut Shoppe has been a Spartanburg mainstay for local sweets for three decades. While their traditional nuts, candied fruits, and baking supplies are popular for holiday baking, the SC-sourced candy and baked goods are also perfect for your parties or general sweet tooth.
Gerald Tucker, the founder of the sweets shoppe, originally owned a grocery on the Southside, from which he began selling candied fruits in 1983. In 1988, he moved to Reidville Rd to open a shop dedicated solely to sweets, fruits, nuts, and other bulk baking goods.
The business later moved to Kennedy St (across from the current Spartanburg Community College,) and has been at its current 212 E Daniel Morgan Ave location for over a decade.
Their most popular items are peanut brittle, custom gift tins, jams and jellies, and their current, seasonal "Autumn Delight" mix-- candy corn, m&m's, peanuts, and golden raisins. (We made sure to pick up some pumpkin butter and a box of their famous cheese straws!)
Gerald's is also a source for more elusive traditional sweets and specialty baking goods, such as fresh-shelled, whole pecans, candied fruits in bulk, and baking sherry.
Fun fact: You can purchase salt water taffy year-round at the Candy Shoppe! Feel like you're on vacation, while you're curled up on your couch.
Today, Tucker's grandson Jessie continues the family business, although he says he, "goes by Gerald more and more these days. This was his dream business and his dream location." Shop the sweets yourself, 10am-5pm, Monday through Saturday at 212 E Daniel Morgan Ave.
