Grab-n-Go Bistro: the Wall Street Gourmet Exchange

Bond St Wines, open since October 2017 at downtown Spartanburg's 145 W Main St, recently ventured into the food business with their new grab-n-go pop-up counter around the corner at 107 Wall St. The specialty wine shop is known for their upscale offerings and Friday night wine tastings, but saw a French Bistro gap in downtown options.Wall Street Gourmet Exchange (WSGX) offers a curated selection of local breads, cheeses, and charcuterie accoutrements-- including cured meats, pickles, preserves, and more. The bistro-grocery combo also offers basic produce items, microbrew sodas, European beers, and of course, specialty wines.Daily grab-n-go lunch options include soups, salads, and sandwiches, with "Mongers Daily" rotating features. WSGX also offers customizable cheese and meat plates, with options to "tour" the USA, Europe, and the World.Menu options include, for example, a Caprese Sandwich (rosemary focaccia, mozzarella, off the vine tomato, basil,) a Muffaletta de W.S.G.E. sandwich (mortadella, soppressata ham, provolone, mozzarella, onion, tapenade, Italian dressing,) and the Bear Market Chop Salad (roasted chicken, cheddar, candied walnut, cranberry, apple, celery, chive, green goddess dressing.) Are you drooling yet?[Pictured: Mongers Daily sandwich, with Harissa chicken salad, sauteed onion, swiss] The two businesses have overlapping hours and operations, with a singular vision: to offer additional downtown retail for customers, and to make Wall Street a destination. The market bistro joins The Peddler Steak House, Health in Hand Juice & Smoothie Bar, It's Banh Mi Baby, and Monster Subs on Wall Street.Completed in early 2015, the one time service street was brick paved and transitioned into a pedestrian-friendly thoroughfare to Main St. The Wall Street renovation was part of a $2.3 million, eight project streetscaping improvement plan approved by City Council in 2013."We’ve kind of seen the downtown transformed over the past few years,” owner Jeff House said. “And it’s been exciting to be a part of that, and fun to watch. This felt like a natural step for us, as more and more people are out and about downtown.” (Read more on House's vision here.)Try Wall Street Gourmet Exchange for yourself, Monday-Saturday from 11am-7pm.
