Relax in the Burg

While there are many ways to relax and rejuvenate, we're honing in on one specific practice: yoga.If you stroll down Dunbar St, you can't help but notice the brilliantly colored sidewalk, ramp, and wall of YOGAlicious Yoga Studio, (painted by Maggie MacDonald.) This tiny storefront might not seem too large, but its downtown presence makes quite an impact! After recent ownership change, Katy Skye Corbin worked to emphasize the studio as a community safe haven and collaborative effort. This is seen in part through Yogalicious' classes of all skill levels, Corbin's active presence in the downtown community, collaborative events with other businesses, and creative pop-ups such as their sold-out "puppy yoga" fundraiser classes for the Spartanburg Humane Society.(Photos courtesy of Yogalicious social media)The studio's mission reads, "At YOGAlicious, we truly believe that yoga is for everybody. Our goal is to provide our community with knowledgeable and experienced teachers who promote a safe and compassionate environment." We'd say they're doing just that, and more! Each class is accessible at just $10, with no monthly memberships required. They also offer a yoga teacher training program, with 200 hours of in-depth training. Classes update monthly, so check YOGAlicious' social media pages or printed class schedules around town for new offerings. If you're looking for a slightly larger studio or different class times, Spartanburg has plenty to offer! Iyengar Yoga (1810 Hillcrest Blvd) and Wave Room Yoga (1595 Skylyn Dr) both offer a variety of meditation styles, class temperatures, prices, and skill levels to stretch your mind, body, and spirit. Ahhhh, relaxation...If you chaturanga over to Greer, check out Mel-O-Yoga for specialty events such as "goat yoga" and Yoga in the Park, and Namaste Fitness Studio for a specialty blend of fitness, yoga, and nutritional health.(Photos courtesy of Mel-O-Yoga and Namaste Fitness Studio social media)After all this lovely stretching and muscle toning, a hand-brewed cup of Spice and Tea Exchange's specialty loose tea blends makes a delightful post-workout relaxation treat.
