Bodega Noir: Wine Bar & Flower Shop
Landrum, South Carolina is known for its delicious cuisines and local fare, curated crafts and antique finds, getaway destinations for locals and visitors alike, and beautiful views amidst the rolling Blue Ridge Foothills. Its newest retailer experience is no exception.
Meet Bodega Noir, a brand-new wine bar and flower shop at 1520 Rutherford Street, that opened its doors to the public on August 5th, 2021. The location is familiar if you've visited Landrum before, poised at the gateway into downtown. (Stay tuned for a new address closer to downtown, in the coming months...)
The shop offers a selection of wines by the glass or bottle, floral arrangements and custom floral design, a curated selection of craft retail and home goods, fresh pastries and charcuterie, and more.
Choose from wine by the bottle in their market room, also featuring a fridge of craft beers and cold coffees and fresh-baked pastries by All Good Things Bakery. The brand-new bakery opens soon in Tryon, and provides daily sweet and savory treats to the bodega, including Danishes, scones, boxed charcuterie, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and bread loaves.
On shelves throughout the retailer find home goods and gifts, such as crafted bags by Down South Leather Co., miniature "forever floral" arrangements, bath and body goods, Dolly Parton votives, handmade amber jar candles and sprays by P.F. Candle Co., and statement wine glasses for your favorite "Real Housewives of Landrum."
The beautifully-decorated former home includes intimate seating and vintage inspirations, with thematic rooms begging to be photographed. Sip Chardonnay among the delicate pinks of the floral room. Nibble fine cheeses and Danish pastries, while gazing upon a wall of plants and portrait of the Kennedys. Savor mimosas to the tune of live Folk music. Cheers to Merlot and good friends on a velvet couch under a chandelier and disco ball combo.
In addition to the ornate interior, Bodega Noir offers outdoor seating in both a shaded garden and enclosed patio. Future plans for expansion include additional seating and movie screenings in the building's rear lawn, as well as a build-your-own succulent garden.
Bodega Noir has been a project in the making for over a year, with plans beginning in April 2020 and Blue Ridge roots reaching back to the owners' youth. Garrett and Preston K. Wainwright each focus on a side of the small business. With experience as resident florist for the Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota and floral designer to the stars, Preston arranges florals in-house, as well as offering event design, rentals, and wedding planning. A former traveling FEMA disaster claims adjuster, Garrett curates the wine selection from a broad perspective of world views and experiences.
The "creative space to be inspired" is their first business owned together.

Enjoy more than delicious fare and craft goods in the bodega's future; the owners plan to host live music events featuring local musicians, weekly food trucks, and pop-up events with artists and businesses throughout the Foothills. Saluda-based artist, Milkweed Chainstitch Embroidery is one example, with collaborations across both shop locations, including florals on-site in Saluda and live embroidery events in Landrum.
